Nothing is stored or sent to any server.

The Base64 image viewer turns any Base64 text into an image, whether it is raw or comes with the data:image prefix. It accepts the standard and URL safe alphabets, with or without padding, and ignores spaces and line breaks. The type is detected from the first bytes of the file rather than from what the prefix claims, so it recognizes PNG, JPEG, GIF, WebP, BMP, ICO, AVIF and SVG. Besides the preview it shows the MIME type, the extension, the size in pixels and the size in bytes, and lets you download the image. Decoding happens as you type, after a short pause, and nothing leaves your browser.

How to use it

  1. Paste the Base64 text or the data:image URI into the input box.
  2. Check the preview and the image data: type, extension, dimensions and size.
  3. Click Download image to save it with the right extension.
  4. Click Clear to empty the input and start with another image.

Frequently asked questions

Which image formats does it recognize?
PNG, JPEG, GIF, WebP, BMP, ICO, AVIF and SVG. The type is detected from the first bytes of the data, not from the data: prefix that may come with the text.
Why does it say the data is not an image?
The text is valid Base64, but its bytes do not match any supported format. It may be plain text, a PDF or another kind of file.
Is it safe to paste an SVG?
Yes. The SVG is shown inside an image tag, which does not run scripts, and it is never inserted into the page as HTML.
Is there a maximum size?
The input can hold up to 10 MB of text. If you go over it, the tool warns you without trying to decode it.
